Realturf is strengthening its commitment to sustainability with Primeback®, a 100% recyclable backing

The company is pushing the development of solutions that improve the
recyclability and performance of artificial grass without compromising on
durability and functionality.

Innovation in artificial turf is increasingly moving towards circular economy models. In line with
this, Realturf continues to expand its range of sustainable solutions with Primeback®, a backing
made from 100% recyclable PE polyolefins. As it is made from the same material as the grass
fibres, it facilitates recycling at the end of its useful life and eliminates the need to separate
different components, thereby simplifying the process and reducing its environmental impact.

As well as improving recyclability, Primeback® offers technical advantages that optimise the
performance of artificial turf in all types of installations. Its fully permeable structure allows water
to drain through across the entire surface and drains up to six times faster than conventional
systems, promoting more efficient drainage and reducing water build-up.

This technology is incorporated into various models in the Realturf range and offers features
tailored to residential usage, pet areas, gardens and high-traffic outdoor spaces.
Primeback® forms part of Reconnect, Realturf’s sustainability philosophy – an ecosystem of
sustainable solutions that has continued to grow in recent years. This commitment is
complemented by initiatives such as the water calculator, a tool that enables users to estimate
the water savings associated with using artificial grass compared to other landscaping
alternatives.

With developments such as these, Realturf is reinforcing its commitment to a more sustainable
and efficient artificial turf model that is in line with the current needs of the market and the
environment.
